Dungloe Notes for week beginning 7th December 2009

Soilse Na Nollag & Parents Association would like to thank all those who helped out with the “switch on” of the town lights and parade last Sunday. This was a special family occasion and a great community effort was made by all. Thanks to all the stewards and Gardaí, FÁS C.E workers, John Connor’s and James Shovlin for their help and support.

Flood Aid: There is a local effort to organise a load of essential supplies for the many victims of flooding in the west and midlands of our country. Through the Red Cross we have been given the name of central Depot in Athlone where donations will be distributed. Essential items are the following: Men’s, Ladies & Children’s clothing, Footwear, Bed Linen, Curtains, furniture, i.e. stools, chairs sofas tables, microwaves, cookers kitchen appliances, non perishable foodstuffs, i.e. Tinned food; Kids toys, DVD’s Toiletries, toilet rolls and kitchen rolls, cleaning agents, Domestos, Fairy liquid, etc. In the Depot they said every item is a priority. All items must be in good condition, either bought new or something you would use if you were in their situation. Everything should be left in the Parochial Hall, Kincasslagh between 11.00a.m and 5pm on Saturday 12th Dec and 5pm , and Burtonport Community Centre after mass on Sunday 13th December until 4pm. St Vincent de Paul: Thank you for your generosity throughout the year. All donations go to assist those in need. If you are aware of someone who may need emergency help. Please contact us and be assured of absolute confidentiality. We will have a weekly collection after Sunday Mass in Meenacross. Tel: 086 0389322

Golden Jubilee Garden Committee: Dungloe Hospital presents this year’s Festival of Christmas Hymns and Nativity Scene on Friday 18th Dec @ 8pm sharp in St. Crona’s Church Dungloe with Seasonal Refreshments afterwards in St. Crona’s National School. Tickets on sale in Books and Charts and at Dungloe Hospital. Price €12.00.

Flood Donations Appeal: Scoil Chróine are now accepting cash donations to support families who suffered from the recent floods in Galway. Anyone who donates cash will be entered into a draw for a Christmas hamper-sponsored by M & S. Donations may be given to any member of staff. Draw will take place at the Annual Christmas concert on Wed 16th Dec.

Sale of Pupil Tables & Chairs-Used table & Chairs of various sizes will be sold off at knock down prices on Thurs 10th Dec at 8pm in St Crona’s N.S. Anyone buying must remove purchases on the night.

Meenacross Agricultural Show: Meeting in Ionad Teampall Chróine on Thursday 10th December at 8.00pm. Please bring along any photos, newspaper clippings or notes you may have for inclusion in our 50th Anniversary book. Good care will be taken with them. For further information call 074 95 22500.

Rosses Community School Gym: The fitness suite and gym is available to the public on Monday & Wednesday nights from 6-8pm. The fee is €4 per night.
